03 — Signature project

A 1923 Oak Bay kitchen, rebuilt for a family of five.

The Marlows had been through two contractors before they reached us — one took a deposit and disappeared, the other kept revising the number upward. We measured on day one, delivered a fixed-price scope on day six, started demo on day twelve.

Forty-two days later they were cooking dinner in their new kitchen. Custom white-oak millwork, quartz waterfall island, restored original fir floors, and a walk-in pantry carved from what used to be a cramped laundry nook.

How long does a kitchen renovation take?+

Most SafeBuild Reno character-home kitchen renovations are completed in 4–6 weeks from demo day, including knob-and-tube replacement and heritage-letter handling for Oak Bay, Saanich and Fairfield homes. The handover date is committed to in writing.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?+

Most SafeBuild Reno bathroom renovations — including curbless walk-in tile showers, in-floor heat and Schluter waterproofing — are completed in 3 weeks from demo day.

Is SafeBuild Reno licensed and insured?+

Yes. BC-licensed general contractor, WorkSafeBC clearance in good standing, $2M general liability bonded, and BC HPO Registered Builder. Public credential links here.

Do you handle permits and city paperwork?+

Yes. We pull permits in your name and manage inspections with the City of Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, Langford, Colwood, Sidney, Sooke and Cowichan Valley municipalities. Permit fees pass through at cost with zero markup.
